Funny Talk

My kids are getting pretty funny as they grow. I think someday the boys will read this an be glad I kept a blog. Here are a couple funny things that I want to remember.

I asked Tanner what he wanted to be when he grows up. He thought about it for a minute and then said . "A King!"- I dont blame him, what could be better?

Zach: "Mom, when I grow up I want to be a waterboy. Then I can give them drinks of water when they are thirsty. They will be so proud!"
(um, I have no idea where he even saw or heard of a waterboy?)

Tanner was calling Zach a "poohead" over and over. I told him to stop calling people that. I told him it wasnt a nice word and hurt peoples feelings. He had to tell Zachary sorry and then we were going to bed.
Mom:" Good night Zach. Good night Asher. Good night Tanner, I love you".
Tanner: " Good night mom. Good night Asher...(a couple seconds pass)...Good night Poo head!

Tanner singing "Barbra Ann", by the Beach Boys-
"bob, bob, bob, bob the man. bob, bob, bob, bob, bob, the man".
Tanner also knows all the words to Sugar, Sugar- by the Archies (on our blog player).

Zach loves to sing "I like to move it, move it" from the Madagascar soundtrack.
His newest song is "Shake your groove thing". He sings "Shake your boob thing, shake your boob thing, yeah yeah!
(geez. A typical boy. Do I have to explain this over and over again for the next 14 years?)
Little Asher is starting to say a few things too: Cat, Up, Out, Down, Hi, and "Ack"=Zach.

Camping 2009

Friday night (26th) we drove to Gifford Pinchot State Park for a little camping with friends. Zach and Tanner were so excited to take their flashlights and make smores. If its one thing I have learned having boys, you can never have too many flashlights. My kids LOVE flashlights.
They were especially excited when they got to watch movies in the dark, sitting in their camp chairs with their best friend Liam. AH, the conveniences of modern living with the camping experience. What did people do before portable DVD players?
Mike and I loved the new tent we got for Christmas. It was enormous. The pictures dont quite do it justice. We had a pack-n-play ,queen and king air mattress inside and still had room for another queen mattress and a couple single sleeping bags. WOW!
LOVE, LOVE, LOVE! It made camping so much better.
The hardest part was getting the babies to sleep that night. They arent newborns anymore, and no amount of coaxing could quiet them with all the noise. Asher was up until 11:00 trying to go down. The campsites were all too close together and the park was full of campers. A woman with a thick New York accent screamed and talked to her 6 kids all night. The 6 kids apparently didnt want to sleep when camping,so they were up all night. It was not fun listening to them into the wee hours. The humidity was so horrible that I tossed and turned all night. Isnt this the case with any camping experience. You never really sleep well.
All in all, it was a fun trip. We will wait to go again until the cooler weather. When having a fire at night actually feels good.
Getting our camp on

Rolling out the mattresses

New two room tent. Wonderful!

Mike's pancake on tinfoil...didnt really work.

Good morning Tanner

What the...? Putting the tent back in the bag is always harder than taking it out. And more fun apparently.

You wont like me when Im angry

This week in review:
Things were hectic with random commitments this week. We cleaned the church, which the boys loved. Freedom to play in the nursery with all the toys and run in the gym. We had an overload of strawberries that had to be used. We decided to chocolate dip a bunch of them for dessert. Zach wanted his to be green. Here's the result of the boys dipping and green stripes.

I actually got to organize some of my closets. It was very overdue. I got rid of a few broken things and gathered together some hand me downs for potential baby boys in the family (right Maleah?...although I think its a girl for sure).

Tanner beat Zach to a bloody mess after nap time the other day. Zach woke him up too early from his nap. You dont mess with tired Tanner. Tanner gave him a puncture wound on his head that bleed for 30 min or so. Zach was a wreck over it. Of course Zach was using my pillow for some reason, and the blood bath stained my nice white pillow case. I didnt know heads could bleed so much. AARRRGGG!
Oh and the craziest thing that happened this week was that I discovered I am the HULK. Unfortunately, the kids bedroom door paid the price.
I closed the kids bedroom door behind me, not knowing it was locked. Leaving Asher and Tanner (the predator and the prey) in the room together. When I tried to get back in, I discovered that not only was the door locked, but there was no way to open it, or remove the handle from the outside. I tried to talk Tanner through the process of unlocking the door, but it was a twist lock (which only Zach can turn) and he couldnt open it. I tried several things unsuccessfully. It was bedtime for the baby and he started screaming on the other side. Partially because he was tired and wanted a bottle, and partially because Tanner was tormenting him. After about 20 minutes, Ashers crying turned hysterical. Unsure of what was going on inside the room (Tanner is known to hurt him on purpose and relentlessly) my adrenaline kicked in. I got so mad. I decided to break the door open to rescue my baby. The pictures show the damage. I hit it so hard that the metal around the hole in the frame flew off, screws and all. I wasnt happy about this. Just one more thing on my list of home repairs and costs. I just felt that internal panic with Asher stuck on the other side and screaming for help. Tanner seemed oblivious to the whole plight. He was fine stuck in his room. After all, he had his VCR, toys and books.

I guess my bodypump weight lifting class is really working. I really did some damage to the door.

Like An Alcoholic in a open bar

Have I mentioned that I got the my cable company to give me free HBO and a DVR for a year? Yeah, its a long story. But the bottom line is...I should never have been given a DVR.
Seriously, its like a magic little red button, that makes me happy every time I push it. I go to sleep at night, and awake to a magical Christmas morning of new movies and episodes. My newest treasures in my vault are from this great show called, Tori and Dean, Home sweet Hollywood.
Seriously, can anything be more dumb than this show that I am utterly and totally addicted too? I cant help it. I love it!
What about old episodes of Everybody Loves Raymond,Friends, and Top Chef? I watch them over and over again. It never bores. I dont have to wade through the junk Mikey wants to watch like Ghost Hunters (its completely fake people!), Rocky movies (Sly, your acting is as bad as Chris O'donell, Keanu and Nicholas Cage), or Animal Planet (like I need to see Manatee eating, mating and pooping in the wild?!). Always something to watch that I enjoy, just for me, just for me, just for me.
Hello, My name is Eden, and I am a DVR junkie.
Gotta Go...Tori Spelling is calling.

Whats in a name?

No, this is not an announcement. Just something I wanted to mention in my blogging.

When I was in the 8th grade, we studied Shakespeare. We read many of his plays and sonnets. For some time after this I had this obsession with the name OTHELLO . I thought it would be such a great little girls name (yes, I know Othello was a man in the play). I even found an old journal from my high school creative writing class where I mentioned my love for the names OTHELLO, and GLORY for my future daughters.

Here I am 13 years later, no daughters, standing in the park when I hear a woman calling to her little girl "Come on Othello...".
Did I just hear that right? About a week goes by and I see this same woman at the park again ( come to find out they live in my neighborhood). She is calling for this little girl with golden skin, dark hair, dark eyes. I ask the woman "Is her name Othello?". She replies "Yes, Othello Luna".... My jaw dropped.

Ok, I know no one will agree with me, but that is the coolest name ever.- She is destined to be something cool...I know, I know...stop dreaming about baby girls. Its not in the cards for me. But, I still have dreams right? Too bad Mikey doesnt like the name Othello.
I am still keeping a top three list of my favorite girls names. Even if I never get a girl. Glory, is still on the list. I'd tell you the other two, but then I'd have to kill you...hehehe

This week at our house

This week was a good one. Mike was home a ton, which we love! The week was filled with Hershey Park, riding roller coasters, laying at the pool, and enjoying the cooler weather (we have had tons of rain here!).

Since we moved in we have wanted to paint the guest bedroom in the basement from the blue it was. Blue walls and blue carpet felt very cold. However, we got a little too ambitious with the yellow idea, and painted the room a pastel-yellow. Now its too bright! We will have to mellow it out somehow. A room makeover would be nice, but I cant really get into decorating down there for some reason (Texas Stacey's, I need you guys to come and liven up this place with some style!).

Before

After

We also made homemade pizza's, and let each of the kids make there own. It was tons of fun and the boys really liked helping. I was surprised how much I like the crust recipe I found online. Eating in our house is getting ridiculous. The twins refuse to eat anything but sugar. So, it was a fight to get people to eat their creations. In the end, it turned out to be a happy activity.

Nothing but crickets chirpping

The lesson in Gospel Doctorine class this week was on the Second Coming of Jesus Christ. We have an amazing teacher, fun, smart, witty. Its obvious he prepares for his lessons and is well read. During the discusion which is focused on sections of the d&c, I decide to ask a question. Thinking that maybe someone in the class has some insight, citation or can direct me to a quote or talk, I ask " Can someone dispell this myth or tell me where I can find information about Utah being destroyed in the last days. I've heard a couple statements that in the last days Utah will be one of the most wicked places, and will be one of the first places to be destroyed. Is this just mormon myth?"
Cue crickets...

I forgot that I am in a room with about 30-35 people, probably half from Utah. I dont think they liked that sentiment or rumor passed along. The teacher jumps in "Nope, Ive never heard that. Its not in the scriptures".

Ok...so has anyone else ever heard this notion? I am sure its just folklore, prepetuated by non-Utah mormons to feel better about not living there. But, seriously am I the only person who has ever heard this?
Yeah, I felt dumb. But, the funniest part was when our friend approached me after class and said with a grin "Eden, Yes, Utah will be destroyed, everything but South Jordan of course!"-He is a SJ boy and his wife is from there too. I had to laugh, maybe I have heard too many of the Mormonlore stories.

Beltzville State Park

I think Pennsylvania is one of the prettiest states I have lived in (out of the 5 that I have resided in). Such beautiful country in this part of the US. Parts of it seem so untouched by the world. They make me feel like, perhaps I am the first person to ever walk through their branches. Its very peaceful and mesmerizing to drive through some of the back roads and rolling hills of this state.
My parents found a gem of a reservoir a couple years ago. I love to go up and lay on its imported sandy beach. We headed up there this weekend with my parents and 2 brothers for a little lake action. We needed the "beach" time, after 4 1/2 straight days of rain. The water was a little cold, but not freezing. We certainly enjoyed the sunshine. No one would look at the camera, but you get the picture. We had a great time!

Can you stand anymore "unrelaxed" at the beach? I just want to scream "AT EASE MEN!"

Grandma snoozing. Dont kill me for posting this!

Lunch time

Tanner the Man

Asher didnt want anyone to stop him from running around. He loves the outdoors!

My mom found this swimming in the water. YIKES!

Update on The West

Remember when I mentioned New Mexico was looking like a go. After being open and available for years, they finally placed someone permanently. Coincidently, they placed someone right before we decided we were finally ready to go. So...we are still here. We are fine with that for now. It still looks like it may go west in the next little while, but we arent sure to which state we will be going.Because Mikes company is eastcoast based, it is difficult to find people out here, who want to stay in the west, since they mainly hire people from the east. They have that mentality "what the heck is in Salt Lake City? Or Denver or Tucson?"
Now that they know we are willing to leave, who knows what they will open for us.
Isnt this the way things always go. You finally decide you are ready, and its no longer waiting for you.
Anyway...just an update.

CURLY TOP

Where did this Curly top come from?
