Asher is nearly 6 weeks old ( on Mon June 2nd) . I thought I would put some new pictures up of him for the grandparents. He is getting bigger and more alert. We are enjoying his sweet personality. We are going to bless him on Sunday. I will post pictures of that later.

Muffins and More
Ok these are 3 of my favorite youtube videos. I am not really sure why I find them so funny.
I love this! Being a mom, gives me the right to use lots of fun sayings !
I love Muffins!
Why is watching other people getting hurt so funny? I love the part with the dove that is suppose to be released into the air...priceless!

Soundtrack of my life
For the past 6 (7 in Sept) years, Mike has had funny little songs he sings to me during specific situations. When we first got married, and we would fight, he would sing the song BILL OF SALE from the movie Pete's Dragon. The lyrics he would emphasize are "We got a bill of sale right here that says he belongs to us.
Fight all ya want, won't do no good to holler and fume and fuss". It would always break the tension because I would start laughing. I guess Mike thought I would never threaten to leave because "he had a bill of sale" after we got married. Apparently that bill of sale "marriage license" gave him supreme power over me (we all know how that has worked out over the years, hehehe).
Later in our marriage, when we would fight, he would start singing a Michael Bolton song. The only thing is, he would leave out the most important part of the song, which is the finishing of the stanza. He would only sing "I said I loved you but, I lied". He would leave it at that. I would start laughing, lightening the mood, but not always ending the fight.
Now days, when we are in a tussle, Mike will try to hug me and kiss me in the middle of the argument. He will interrupt me ,(because I am always right) and start singing " You've lost that loving feeling". The opening line he sings to me is "You never close your eyes anymore when I kiss your lips". Of course, I'm usually mad and so of course my eyes are open. Usually glaring and giving him the stinky eye.
My husband loves to sing to me. And I find it amusing most days. Until the other day, when he was singing "Fat Bottom Girls" to me. I guess I cant use my 5 week old baby as an excuse anymore,eh?

Train Time
The kids had fun when Grandpa Banzhaf came to visit from Tucson. He brought some of Great-Grandpa's old electric trains with him. Great-Grandpa was quite the collector of trains. He had many expensive and nice old German trains that he would get out on special occasions for the grand kids. Grandpa Banzhaf decided to start that tradition with the twins. They LOVED it! They wouldn't let him do anything else, except run the trains. They spent hours chasing them around and playing with the cars and caboose.
My living room was filled with tracks, trains & smoke from the engine for a few days.I am sure Great-Grandpa is smiling at the legacy he left and the fun everyone had.
Thank you Grandpa!

Amusing Conversations
In the past several months I have had some of the funniest conversations with people. I thought I would share the three that were the best.
-I love my home teachers. They are great guys. While I was still pregnant and growing bigger everyday, they came to our home. As they enter, one guys says to me: " Wow, your bosom is looking really big!" He was staring at my pregnant belly. I smiled, because I knew that he meant my tummy, but it was too funny. I didn't want to embarrass him so I said "Yes, its getting bigger and bigger each day".
Even his companion caught the slip and smiled but we kept our composure. When they left, Mike closed the door and looked me in the eye..."Did he say "Your Bosom?". We started laughing hysterically. Mike said "I wanted to say to him...Thanks for noticing my wife's bosom, they have always been quite big!"."Why do you think I married her?".
-I was shopping at the grocery store with the kids.
Cashier: "Are your boys twins?"
Eden: "Yes they are"
Cashier: "Do twins run in your family"
Eden: "No, we were just lucky"
Cashier: "So were they a surprise"
Eden: " They were a surprise, but I had infertility issues and had to have medical help to get pregnant, so I knew there was a possibility for twins".
Cashier: "Oh..so do they know who their father is?"
(So at this point, I am so confused )
Eden:"Well, yeah"
Cashier: I just know that it is really expensive to do DNA testing"
(At this point I am assuming she is talking about In-vitro fertilization and mixing up sperm samples or something).
Eden: "Well, I have only ever heard of one famous case of that happening"
Cashier: "Oh honey, it happens all the time. I have a niece who doesn't have a clue who her babies dads are. It cost her close to 6,000 dollars to figure them all out".
---Pause...awkward silence...I act distracted by the kids because I have no idea what she is talking about--- 30 second pass...
Cashier: "You said infertility didn't you"...
Eden: "Yeah"
It wasn't until I got to my car that I realized she thought I said INFIDELITY.
- I was talking on the phone about a 'Peas in a Pod" group for mothers with multiples that I belong to. Zach heard me talking about it and came in to correct me.
Eden:" Is the activity with "Peas in a Pod?"
Zach: " No mom, no Pee in the pot. I Poo in the pot!"
Sure enough, there was a present waiting for me in the bathroom toilet.
Too funny!

On a Personal Note
Ok, I really am grateful for my new baby. I love him dearly, but what I really hate is BREASTFEEDING. Seriously, it amazes me how much some women love it. I hate everything about it. I only do it because I know its good for my baby and its cheaper than formula. If one more person tells me that its" such a wonderful time to be with my baby and just bond", I will freak out and slap them. GOOD for them...SUCKS for me! Why cant babies just drink bacon grease to bulk up? OK..I will get off my soapbox now.

In & Out
The past few weeks have been a revolving door of people in and out of the house. I really do appreciate all the help that our mothers lent when I brought the baby home. Here are some of the pictures taken over the past few weeks. It has definitely been a transition for the twins. They aren't used to sharing mommy with someone else. Trauma set in when mommy was no longer able to take the time to read multiple stories, sing 3 songs and tuck everyone in bed at night. A new baby certainly brings change to a household. Patience has been needed by all. Much love to all of you who came from far and wide. (Ariel & Drew, Steve, Mom & Soni) we miss you already!

Mothers Day
Mothers Day was great this year. I spent the day with my family and mother-in-law, who was here to help with the new baby. She was amazing and waited on me hand and foot (THANKS SONI!). Mikey bought me some great flowers to plant in my pots on the front porch. They are New Guinea Impatience. I love them! He also bought me a box of my favorite perfume. What a sweetheart!
I love being a mom. There are days when I wish I was deserted on a island...ALONE. But most days, I love being with my kids. This is what life is all about. As the popular wall words say "LIVE, LAUGH, LOVE".
I do, that is for sure.

Little Brother
Tanner doesn't yet grasp the concept that he has to hold a baby. He thinks they can just sit by themselves. I tried to get Tanner to hold Asher for some pictures. He just let the baby slowly slump into strange positions. You can tell by Asher's face that he doesn't love it. Oh well, I am sure over time, Tanner will get better at holding his little brother. I still think the pictures are funny.

Nature Calls..
A UPS man came to my front door today to deliver a package. As I am getting ready to close the door the guy says "Is that your turtle?". Stunned and confused I look down by our front steps and see this orange headed turtle staring at me. WHOA! Where did that come from?
I think it is a desert box turtle from what I can tell. I could be wrong. If you know the type of turtle let me know. The twins were gone when it was here. By the time they came back, it had disappeared. I wouldn't have let them hold it anyway, turtles are full of Salmonella.
Did you know that the sale of turtles less than 4 inches has been banned in the United States since 1975? This is because turtles pose a high risk of spreading disease, especially to children.
Um....somebody better tell that street vendor in China Town NYC. He was selling small turtles 1 dozen for 20 bucks. I almost bought some until my friend told me about the Salmonella risk. Oh well..what we see and buy in China town is secret anyway right (don't get me started on crawling into basements and 4x4 closets to buy handbags and purses when I get to Canal street)?!?
Anyway, interesting visitor, hope he calls again soon.

Baby update
Asher is now 15 days old. He is doing well and gaining right on schedule. I swear this baby doesn't stop eating. He sleeps well and is alert during the day in between naps. I will say, having one baby at a time is alot easier than having twins. I get alot more sleep! Thank goodness! And Mike has remained sane and able to get some sleep with this little man. We are grateful that Asher has been so sweet and easy. Here are some pics. I couldn't resist taking a picture of his cute little sandals. They are so darling and tiny (Thanks JEN!). We are all doing well and making the transition from a family of 4 to a family of 5. Updates will keep coming.

What did you say?
So everyone always asks me...what does your husband do? I always laugh because I am not sure I am the best person to explain it but, I will try in my laymans way.
.
Mike is a neurophysiologist. Whats that?...well, neurophysiology according to the dictionary is:
the branch of physiology dealing with the functions of the nervous system. You would think that would explain it, but it doesn't. Mike assists surgeons with preventing paralysis and damage of the nerves during invasive surgery. He mainly does cases relating to the brain, neck, spine, & heart. It's a pretty new field and as such, many people, even medical personnel haven't heard of it.
Mike loves his job and enjoys working at the hospital . He gets to see alot of his friends from the ward (we love those residents and students!!!) and professional colleges, so it keeps him entertained.
I personally get a kick out of hearing about all neat things he gets to see. Brains, hearts, nerves, muscles, arteries, etc. I don't like blood and guts, but I do like hearing about the uses of modern medicine and technology. It is very fascinating.
Most importantly, I like when people tell me they saw my husband wearing his U of U scrub hat in surgery. That's the way to give them the ol' "Ute Battlecry"...good job babe!!! Way to represent!
.
